Filing

After cutting and drilling sheet metal, sharp edges and burs should be removed using a file. This will reduce the risk of injury and also ensure good fit.

A file can also be used to file exactly to scribed lines in cases where the cutting has not been accurate or where a square hole is required.

Safety:

• Keep fingers away from cutting edges.
• Always wear safety glasses.
• Make sure the file is fitted with a handle.
• Make sure you are well balanced.
• Don't go too fast, as you may slip.
