Mechanical drawings

Mechanical drawings are done on standard paper sheet from A4 (210mm X 297mm) up to A1 (841mm X 594mm). Before the actual drawing is placed on the paper, other information is included. The things that should be included are as follows:

• a border
• a title block (bottom of page).

The title block contains at least the following information:

• company or organisation name
• title for the drawing
• size of the paper
• drawing number
• date the drawing was done
• sheet number and number of sheets (pages)
• projection system used.

If you or your organisation create a number of mechanical drawings then it is worth having a blank drawing sheet or template, like the two samples shown.
