Consultation

To assist in the consultation process between employers and employees, all state/territory OHS legislation has provision for safety representatives and committees.


OHS representatives are persons elected by the employees to negotiate health and safety issues between the employee and employer.


Health and safety committees should:

  • develop safety work procedures
  • analyse accidents and causes of occupational diseases
  • review risk assessments
  • examine safety audits
  • monitor OHS training and communications.
