What does it mean to be creative?

Here are two high profile examples of collaborative processes that are regarded as creative. Both involve social media:

• Occupy Sandy: a grassroots response to the Superstorm Sandy in the US. Using social media, people organised everything from using exercise bikes to recharge mobile phones to the physical clean up. 
• Similarly, after the London riots in 2011, social media was used to coordinate hundreds of people to help clean up
