CBP Requirements Regarding Copies of Documents

Copies of documents must be provided within:

• 14 days if the original came into existence one year or less before the customer's request
• 30 days if the original came into existence more than one year but less than seven years before the customer's request
• A reasonable time if the document is over seven years old.

Copies do not need to be provided if:

• The customer requests another copy of a statement within three months of the Bank sending a copy of the same statement
• The customer requests a copy of a notice that required some action on their behalf (such as a default notice), provided the request is two years after the termination of the contract to which the notice is related.

CBP Requirements Regarding Copies of Documents

Copies can be delivered:

• By facsimile
• In any other form mutually agreed with the customer.

The Bank can charge:

• A reasonable fee for providing copies of the document under the CBP.

*Keep in mind that the customer also has rights regarding requests for copies of documents under the Uniform Consumer Credit Code and the Corporations Act. The customer's rights under these laws always supersede those under the CBP.
