The images below show the steps taken, in no particular order, to move a light down from the ceiling to floor level. Your task is to place the steps in the correct order.
The steps shown in the images are:
- check the ladder condition and stability
- stand on second rung from top
- assess the task
- climb down the ladder
- with bent knees lower equipment onto the ground.

Step 1
She needs to remove the light fitting and replace it with a new one. She needs to use a ladder. Assess the task to determine how the light fitting can be replaced safely.

Step 2
Ensure the ladder is stable and free from damage. Rungs and feet need to be free from slippery substances such as mud and oil.

Step 3
Never stand on a ladder higher than two rungs from the top.

Step 4
When climbing a ladder always have three points of the body on the ladder at all times. Never climb down forwards ensuring your body is always faced towards the rungs.

Step 5
Always bend your knees when lowering equipment onto the ground, whilst maintaining a straight and upright back.
